The capital of Rwanda is called Kigali. This city is so different to all other cities we have seen in Africa so far. Is Kigali a safe place to visit and should you ask the people about the Genocide in the 90ties? Will Rwanda become the Singapore of Africa? And is it really cleaner here than in other countries in Africa? With these questions we booked our flight to Kigali. In these two blog posts about Kigali you can read all about our insights and experiences.
‘Welcome to Mongolia’ is one of the first things we hear after arriving in Ulan Bator- capital of Mongolia. This is the beginning of many friendly faces and an interesting time. We will stay way longer than we planned and would have our most exciting road trip ever. Mongolia moved us, that’s for sure. We will come back! Our workation in Ulan Bator was a success and we learned to understand the love-hate relationship towards the city a bit more.
After spending a lot of time on the countryside of Bulgaria, we were happy to spend some time in Tbilisi - the capital of Georgia. A staycation is normally something you do at home – vacation at home. Over the years we broadened the term. On travels you can live for a little while at one place and it becomes your “staycation”, before traveling on. So we decided again to have another travel-staycation, this time for around 10 days. One place, plenty of time to reflect, relax and a lot of work and writing. We decided to stay at the Trinity Rock Farm in Bulgaria, a really nice place for that.
Skopje is an interesting city which is marked by long history and new oversized buildings and statues. We decided to go to Skopje because we heard the food is good, and also to have a break on our way to Bulgaria. A pragmatic approach. We are happy, that we choose to stay for a few days with a beautiful loft as our home. In this blogpost you will find out why.
Our arrival in Tirana, Albania after Montenegro was far different than we expected. In preparation of Albania we saw a great documentary about it. So we were a little bit affected by that and expected stunning nature instead of a busy capital. However we spent two weeks there equally busy like the city itself.
Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a city full of surprises, intense history and very welcoming people. We ate a lot, drank strong coffee and had heart-warming meetings with the locals. In this blog-post we will share out insides about our 10 days Sarajevo staycation with you.
We went to Budapest with high expectations towards food but we didn’t know that the cuisine would top them. We are amazed by the eating options and can highly recommend going there to fill your belly with awesomeness. What we didn’t know: the wine in hungary is very delicious, too. Way better than expected. Due to this we decided to write a blog article only about eating and drinking in budapest because we think it is definitely worth it! In this article we present you our top 11 places to go. One huge tip up front: staying in the Jewish quarter means that you are in the middle of all the good restaurants and bars. It is really THE place to stay.
Do you picture a small white-sandy island with three palmtrees on it? Surrounded by the azure-colored Indian ocean? That’s the image of the typical tourist island, where the big resorts are. But a native (or local) Maldive islands, where the local people live, can teach you a new view and deeper insight of an underestimated speckle on this earth.
